A brand new Palm Coast City Council is officially on the job.

Newcomers Heidi Shipley and Steven Nobile took their oaths of office Tuesday morning and both said they are ready to work with the other three council members. Tuesday's meeting was the first City Council meeting since this month’s election.

"I think my ideas might be something new that they don't know about, but I think they'll work us pretty good," said Shipley, who will represent District 2. Shipley beat out Anne-Marie Shaffer, 53 percent to 47 percent.

"They just seem like very open people who are looking for what's best for the people of Palm Coast, and that's what important," said Nobile, who will represent District 4 after beating out incumbent Bill Lewis, 51 percent to 49 percent.

The new City Council was told to expect to be busy over the next couple of weeks as city staff tries to get a lot of work done before the holidays.
