"You can tell when people come in, they fly down the road,” said Wayne Futch, basking in the warm autumn sun on his family farm.

Just off a dusty driveway awaits a respite from the hustle and bustle.

"But whenever they leave, they are driving slower," Wayne admits.

This time of year, the fastest thing moving around the Fox Squirrel Corn Maze is a hay ride.

"My grandfather founded this ranch in 1920,” Wayne said proudly.

For the past three years, farmer Wayne and his family have invited folks to get lost in the season inside a 5-acre wide corn maze.

"We decided to farm a few people,” he jokes as visitors disappear into his corn fields.

Folks go in and some don't come out for a while.

"You can get turned around just going the same places you were before and it kinda gets frustrating,” comments Natalia Langone of Tampa.

That’s unless, you're the maze master.

"I have completely memorized the maze,” boasts Phillip Futch.

The fifth-generation farmer is an expert in these parts, although the corn is nearly double his height.

As the farmer's son, he knows where to go.

"We see a witch with a cat at the end of a broom. And we see a big ghost,” he points out on the only map of the maze. Once inside, it’s up to visitors to find their own way out. After a while, all paths look the same.

Eventually, you'll get out, thanks to Phillip.

“At the end of the day, my job is to go through the maze -- that's why I memorized it --  to go through every path and make sure no one there,” he said.

Ready for a break? There's no hot apple cider here. After all, it's fall in Florida and in the 80s. Good thing there are large portions of shaved ice, next to a wide selection of giant pumpkins.

And the hay ride is popular too.

"Beautiful views of lakes and alligators,” Phillip said.
