An Ocala police officer has been arrested and is facing charges for sexual activity with a minor, and paying her $20 after their second sexual encounter.
According to the arrest report, the victim was a 16-year-old runaway who left her house about a month and a half ago, and had been engaging in prostitution.One night, she encountered officer Bennie Wilson III, 41, and spoke with him. The victim told investigators the conversation led to Wilson abusing the victim that night.
About two weeks later, the girl says she encountered Officer Wilson a second time, and they engaged in sexual activity. Following that second encounter, Wilson allegedly gave the girl $20.
Officials with the Ocala Police Department said that Friday night when Officer Wilson returned to work he was immediately called in to be interviewed. Investigators say Wilson admitted to knowing the girl was under 18, and admitted certain sexual acts happened between the two.
Officer Bennie Wilson was placed under arrest for two charges of unlawful sexual activity with a minor. He was transported to the Marion County Jail with his bond set at $10,000. Wilson has been placed on unpaid suspension pending the internal investigation.
