We had an unseasonably warm day with temperatures in the middle-to-low 80s. This will be the last warm day until the middle of next week. The first cold front of two will move through overnight tonight, dropping temperatures back slightly for Friday. Another, stronger, cold front moves through early Saturday, which will drop the numbers down quite a bit for the weekend.

With the front moving in tonight, expect mostly cloudy skies through the overnight hours. There will be a slight chance for a few showers as we head into Friday morning. Temperatures will remain mild, dropping into the middle-to-low 60s.

The timing of this front has sped up quite a bit, and the first of two fronts is slated to clear Central Florida by midday on Halloween. This will be more favorable for evening trick-or-treating plans. Scattered showers and an isolated storm will be found along and ahead of this front, although significant wet weather or strong storms are not expected. The coverage of rain will be minimal. As the front lowers through from north to south, cooler air will begin to filter in, but it won’t be until Saturday morning that we feel a more noticeable change in airmass. At the time of sunset on Halloween, 6:41 p.m. temperatures should be in the middle-to-upper 70s with decreasing clouds and a light breeze.

Gusty north winds will take over early Saturday when the second cold front slides through. This one will lack rainfall, but will be capable of a meaningful drop in temperatures for the weekend. Lows on Saturday morning will be in the middle-to-upper 50s for the Interstate 4 corridor with cooler 40s north and west. Highs on Saturday will only manage to reach the upper 60s to around 70 degrees, some 10 to 15 degrees cooler than where they will be this afternoon.

Overnight Saturday into Sunday is when the temperatures will be at their coldest; parts of Marion county may dip as far down as the middle 30s; area wide, middle-to-upper 40s will be common. The record low for Orlando on Sunday morning of 46 degrees will be in jeopardy. Plenty of sun will be on hand throughout the weekend with clear skies at night. Tranquil weather will last through the start of the next work week with onshore winds developing to help modify the airmass and allow temperatures to increase each day.

In the tropics, Invest 95 no longer has the potential for tropical development and there are no other areas of concern at this time.
