In an age when driver-less cars exist, one Brevard County city is looking at regulating an older form of transportation.

The Titusville City Council is shifting their focus Tuesday night to horse drawn vehicles.

The city plans to allow staff to move forward with looking at regulations for horse carriages in the city.

You don’t see too many horses around Downtown Titusville but a city memo says concerns have been raised regarding the use and treatment of horses, safety of carriages on public right of ways, insurance requirements, and sanitation issues.

Those items aren’t currently addressed in city code.

If given the all clear, city staff will proceed with further research to find out how other cities regulate horse drawn vehicles.
