Detectives in Sumter County are investigating an armed robbery at a Waffle House in Wildwood on Sunday.

The Sumter County Sheriff's Office responded around 12:36 a.m. to the Waffle House located at 7954 N.E. Eighth Way in reference to an armed robbery.

Arriving deputies were advised by Waffle House employees that a man entered the restaurant with a gun, jumped over the counter and demanded money from the cash register.

The man fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash. He was last seen running westbound toward McDonald's.

The suspect is described as a black man about 5-feet, 5-inches tall in his 20s. He was wearing black jeans and a gray hoodie and a black mask. The weapon was described to be a gray revolver.
