Children love playgrounds – but what if they could design their own?
That’s exactly what kids got to do in Sanford – and Saturday a couple hundred volunteers put that playground together in just a few hours.
KaBOOM! playgrounds teamed up with Disney, the city of Sanford, Public Allies of Central Florida and Community Based Care of Central Florida to make it happen.
Organizers say a playground is much more than just a place for kids to play.
“Not only a place where children come and play, but also, it gives the opportunity to explore their creativity, their imagination, and just focus on other skills that are so important to their academic success,” said Karla Radka, Community Based Care of Central Florida.
Organizers say about 1,400 kids in the nearby area will be able to enjoy the new playground.
