Brevard and Volusia counties join the rest of Central Florida on Saturday as polls open for early voting.

Voters are deciding everything from school funding to who will represent both counties in Washington, D.C.

In Brevard County, though, more than 49,000 voters have already mailed in their ballots. Everybody across the county has a say this November on who will represent them in the U.S. House of Representatives.

U.S. Rep. Bill Posey, R-Rockledge, is running for another term in the U.S. House of Representatives. He has been serving in Congress since 2009. His opponent is Democratic candidate Gabriel Rothblatt.

Posey has an edge on his opponent: There are 32,000 more registered Republicans than Democrats in Brevard County.

That's not stopping Rothblatt, who is a political newcomer. He wants to eventually colonize Mars.

Posey, who worked at the Kennedy Space Center during the Apollo era, is hoping to return humans to the moon.

A third candidate, Christopher Duncan Jr., is running as a writ-in candidate.

Polls open at 8 a.m. in Brevard County and at 7 a.m. in Volusia County.

Early voting across the rest of Central Florida began last week.
