The Flagler County Sheriff's Office is investigating the hacking of the FlaglerLive website.

Readers who visited the local news website Thursday morning saw a headline that read "The Second Khilafah," which is the name of the hacking group.

The group claims to spread the word of Islam, and the notion that Western ideology is the source of the current chaos in the world.

"We do know and have confirmed that there have been other incidents like this in Florida and throughout the country perhaps," said Dep. Paula Priester with the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.

Priester said the other websites hacked were based in South Florida. One was a synagogue in Fort Lauderdale, the other was the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. The motive of the hackers is not clear.

She said all this is new to the sheriff's office, and that investigators have not been able to translate what the hackers wrote. So, they are turning over the information to other agencies.

The Florida Fusion Center gathers, processes and analyzes information linked to terrorism, law enforcement and homeland security information. The FBI will also be involved in the investigation.
