Dozens of kindergarten students in Volusia County took a special field trip Tuesday and became special police officers.

All 55 kindergarten students from South Daytona Elementary visited the South Daytona Police Department for a tour.

Before the tour got underway all the kindergarteners were sworn in by Chief Ronald Wright as Junior SDPD Officers and received a SDPD Junior Officer Badge.

The officers told the students about some of the equipment they use and talked to them about stranger danger and what they should do if they find a gun, fake or real.  The kids also took a tour of the jail and booking area and got a close up look at the squad cars and motorcycles.
