A Lake County woman has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for multiple charges, including tax fraud and aggravated identity theft.

Tanya Fox, of Clermont, was sentenced Wednesday in federal court. She was convicted in July of using stolen identities, including hundreds of names stolen from the Orange County Health Department, to collect millions of dollars in IRS tax refunds.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Fox attempted to receive $5.8 million in fraudulent tax returns, and successfully received more than $4 million, which she spent on plastic surgery and luxury cars.

Three other people had been previously convicted of providing around 2,400 names from the Orange County Health Department to Fox and her co-conspirators. Delray Duncan, Gerald Williams and Shanterica Smith were each sentenced to 3–5 years related to the case.

A fifth co-defendant, April Cuyler, also pleaded guilty for her role in this scheme. She was sentenced to two years and six months in prison.
