Part of the Ivanhoe District could be getting a make-over and Tuesday local business and residents met with the developer to give their input.

The room was packed with about 140 people for the Lake Formosa Neighborhood Meeting at Tuesday night.

A new developer is about to close on properties in a section of the Ivanhoe District on November 10.

Chance Gordy is looking to add over 500 apartments and condos, in addition more restaurants and retail shops in that part of town.

The changes would come along Alden Road and Philadelphia Street.

The biggest issue discussed at the meeting was traffic concerns.

Several people are also worried about parking, the height of proposed structures and preserving the artistic value of the neighborhood.

Before the developer takes his request to the city for permits he wanted to hear from the public and get their input.

Gordon Spears is the vice president for the Lake Formosa Neighborhood Association.

"I think Chance came to our meeting expecting to get yelled at by the neighbors and he did," Spears said. "But I think it was very good natured and I think we really appreciated him coming to us early in the process actually before he even went to the city to pull a permit."

Gordy said he would like to start construction in about a year and said he will be submitting his plans to the city in the near future.
