The Justice Department likely will not bring civil rights charges against George Zimmerman in the 2012 shooting death of Trayvon Martin in Seminole County.

The Washington Post cited three law enforcement officials with knowledge of the case in a report Wednesday.

Federal investigators started looking into the case two years ago, but have since decided there is not enough evidence to bring charges.

At this point, the case is not closed, but that's expected to happen sooner, rather than later.

Zimmerman was acquitted last summer of second-degree murder in the deadly shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, who was unarmed.

The Washington Post also said Martin's parents had not yet been informed of a final decision by the Justice Department.
