The state chief medical examiner's office says a Fort Bragg based soldier from St. Cloud, whose body was recovered more than two years after she disappeared, died from blunt force trauma to the head.

Area media outlets report the finding is consistent with a search warrant showing Pfc. Kelli Bordeaux's accused killer hit her multiple times in the face before burying her in a shallow grave in a wooded area in Cumberland County.

Bordeaux was last seen alive on April 13, 2012 at a Fayetteville bar, about a half-mile from her home. Her remains were found last May in the grave in thick woods which had never been checked despite repeated searches by volunteers.

Authorities have charged 27-year-old Nicholas Michael Holbert with first-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping in Bordeaux's death.
