As Hurricane Gonzalo moves toward Bermuda, it will avoid Central Florida. But our east coast could still feel the impacts from the major storm.

News 13's Weather Experts said Central Florida's coast can expect to see bigger waves, coastal erosion and a dangerous rip current threat.

Surfers were already starting to see waves clean up, becoming more organized Wednesday in Brevard County.

They will continue to build through Thursday and into Friday.

Boaters will have to take caution, as seas could reach 7 feet.

Our Weather Experts said there will be 13 second swells, which is good news for surfers. Some of the best conditions from Gonzalo will come Friday.

However, the waves also mean coastal erosion could be a concern.

Nearly $40 million from taxpayers were spent over the past year to replenish Brevard County beaches impacted by Hurricane Sandy in 2012.

So county leaders will be holding their breath, hoping Gonzalo doesn’t take a lot of the new sand away.

Gonzalo will also pose a threat to swimmers along our coast. Lifeguards have been flying the red flag this week, warning of the rip current danger.
