Daytona Beach's popular Biketoberfest is set to kick off, with officials expecting hundreds of thousands of visitors.

Biketoberfest will begin Thursday, October 16 and will continue through Sunday, October 19.

Most of those visitors will be in the following areas, with a heavier concentration of visitors expected at night:

  • Main Street
  • North Beach Street
  • Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard
  • Daytona International Speedway

Officials want to manage the vehicular and pedestrian traffic as effectively as possible around the Biketoberfest areas, and say the following roadways could be affected by heavy traffic:

  • Main Street area
  • Atlantic Avenue between Auditorium and Harvey Street
  • Oleander Avenue
  • Wild Olive Street
  • Grandview Avenue
  • Hollywood Avenue

Officials say resident and business access will be accommodated, though it may become necessary to restrict traffic on the Main Street Bridge during peak times to facilitate the movement of emergency vehicles, as well as traffic to and from congested areas.

Visitors or residents wishing to cross to the beach side during this time are encouraged to utilize one of the following bridges to avoid delays:

  • Seabreeze
  • Orange Avenue
  • Speedway Bridge

Officials have a plan for when event traffic cause for updated traffic patterns that they believe will help facilitate movement in and around the festival's areas.

The following traffic patterns are anticipated during the event:

  • Vehicles wishing to enter Main Street from the north via Atlantic Avenue should remain in the right southbound lane. Upon reaching Main Street, you will be allowed to turn right.
  • Vehicles approaching from the south on Atlantic Avenue wishing to enter Main Street must enter via Peninsula by turning left on International Speedway Boulevard. Upon reaching Peninsula Drive, turn right to travel north to Main Street.
  • Vehicles approaching on Peninsula Drive from the north should turn left on Oakridge Boulevard to Atlantic Avenue and South to Main Street.
  • Vehicles approaching on Peninsula Drive from the south should remain on Peninsula.

Event organizers have plenty of clearly-marked, motorcycle-only parking on select areas of North Beach Street for the length of the festival.

Both Pedestrian and vehicular traffic are expected to be extremely busy in the area of Daytona Harley-Davidson (290 N. Beach Street). Police officers will be in the area during peak times to assist with traffic.

During activities in the Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard area, public parking areas may be restricted to assist with pedestrian safety and vehicular movement. Side streets in the 800 block of Bethune Boulevard will be restricted and possible closed to assist with spectator safety.

Spectators wishing to access this festival area can do so via any of the major roadways that intersect with Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard.

Traffic in the area of the Daytona International Speedway is not anticipated to create any major traffic concerns, though minor traffic patterns may be implemented to assist with inbound and outbound traffic from the Speedway gates.

Signage will be clearly posted directing spectators to all events held on Speedway property.

Residential concerns have also been addressed by officials. Motorcycles arriving and leaving festival areas, during evening hours, via local residential streets are advised to use caution due to pedestrian traffic.

Excessive noise from loud pipes/no mufflers on motorcycles is prohibited by state law and city ordinance, police say violations will be enforced.

Police will be enforcing the designated residential/decal parking restrictions in specific/marked areas of the Beachside. Visitors should check for signage in residential areas.
