Only 10 days into her job, Lake County's Animal Services Director Jacquelyn Johnston was fired for violating a sheriff's office policy regarding euthanasia.

Officials say too many animals were being put down in Lake County, which led to the firing of the county's animal services director, just 10 days after she was hired.

Johnston was fired Friday, after officials with the Lake County Sheriff's office found out several animals were being put down without exhausting all options.

The sheriff's office has a strict policy of only euthanizing animals as a last resort, which Johnston was in direct violation of.
