The Marion County Sheriff's Office has been awarded double Excelsior accreditation status through the Commission of Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation.

Completing the accreditation process is a voluntary action taken by law enforcement agencies that are looking to better themselves and to provide a higher quality of service to their citizens.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office undergoes the rigorous accreditation cycle every three years and has been an accredited agency since 1996.

The Marion County Jail also has Excelsior accreditation with the Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission and will be examined for further accreditation in 2015.
