A Kissimmee commissioner was pulled over for going 100 mph in a city vehicle.

Commissioner Sara Shaw received a citation when she was pulled over in August on Florida's Turnpike.

Newly-released dashcam video shows her surprising reaction to the Florida Highway Patrol trooper's accusations.

Shaw was caught going 40 mph over the speed limit, according to FHP. But she was incredulous when the trooper told her.

Trooper Johnson: “Got you on the radar at 100 and I got you paced at 105.

Shaw: “Oh, really…”

Trooper Johnson: “Yes, ma’am.”

Shaw: “Are you sure?”

Trooper Johnson: “I’m 100 percent sure.”

Shaw: “'Cause I was keeping up with the flow of traffic...”

Trooper Johnson: “No, you were passing everyone.”

Shaw told the FHP trooper she was headed to give a speech on red light cameras, a hot issue in courtrooms for people accused of the crime.

But Commissioner Shaw didn’t make it to her own court appearance for this speeding citation, although the date was clearly stated and acknowledged by her.

Trooper Johnson: “You have a mandatory court appearance on the 17 of September 2014 8:30 AM in front of Judge Johnson at the [inaudible] county courthouse…”

Shaw: “Just to let you know, this truck has a governor on it.”

Trooper Johnson: “Huh?”

Shaw: “This truck has a governor.”

Trooper Johnson: “Well, the governor’s off…”

The “governor” Shaw referred to would stop the car from going over a certain speed.

A Kissimmee city spokesperson released this statement:

“The citation issued to Commissioner Shaw this past August is a private matter between her and the Florida Highway Patrol.”

Although Shaw will maintain her position, the city commission held a special meeting last Friday and voted unanimously that no city commissioner will be able to use Kissimmee city vehicles.

Instead, they will be reimbursed for mileage put on their personal vehicles for approved travel.

We reached out to Commissioner Shaw for a comment but we have not yet received a response.
