Orlando's City Commission want a big pay raise.

On Monday night, commissioners proposed to give themselves a raise of more than 20 percent.

Mayor Buddy Dyer will get a $195,000 salary, up from $160,000.

The city came up with that number by comparing Dyer's pay to salaries of people in similar positions.

A city spokesperson said the mayor has had only cost-of-living increases since taking office in 2003.

Meanwhile, Orlando's commissioners will see their salaries go from $49,000 to $60,000.

Under the proposal, Orlando police officers would get a 2 percent per year cost-of-living increase for the next three years.

Commissioners must still give final approval before any of these raises take effect.
