I-4 has reopened in Seminole County after a deadly crash by the Lake Mary Boulevard exit early Friday morning that shut down all eastbound lanes of the interstate for about five hours.

The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. Friday. The Florida Highway Patrol said Ronald Vangelder, 48, of Sanford, was driving at a high rate of speed, when he crashed into the back of another car, driven by Daniel Sowers, 52, of Holly Hill.

According to an FHP report, Vangelder's car overturned multiple times, and he was pronounced dead after being taken to Central Florida Regional Hospital.

The report said Sowers had minor injuries and was not transported.

All eastbound lanes on I-4 were blocked at the Lake Mary exit until about 7:30 a.m., with morning traffic being directed off the interstate at Lake Mary Blvd. until all lanes eventually reopened.
