The University of Central Florida's CREOL building (Center for Research and Education in Optics and Lasers) is back open after being evacuated due to a chemical spill inside a classroom.

Orange County Fire Rescue said the spill happened shortly after 10 a.m. Friday. The evacuation ended shortly after 12:30 p.m.

The CREOL building, home to UCF's College of Optics and Photonics, was evacuated as a precaution while crews began cleaning up the spill. UCF said campus police and a hazardous materials team also responded to the spill, on the first floor of the building.

The university said it alerted students, faculty and staff of the closure via text and email.

No one was injured, Fire Rescue said.
