George Zimmerman's wife, Shellie Zimmerman, has accepted a plea deal in her perjury case for lying during her husband's original bond hearing after he was first arrested for the shooting death of Trayvon Martin last year.

Shellie Zimmerman entered her guilty plea Wednesday at the Seminole County Criminal Justice Center.

A judge sentenced her to one year of probation and 100 hours of community service. She must also pay $263 in court fees and wrote a letter of apology to Judge Kenneth Lester Jr., who presided over the initial bond hearing.

Shellie Zimmerman had been charged with felony perjury and had initially entered a not guilty plea, but she withdrew that plea and pleaded guilty to the lesser charge.

She was charged with perjury last year after prosecutors said she misled Judge Lester about how much money she and her husband had for his bond.

George Zimmerman ended up having his bond revoked and raised from the original $150,000 to $1 million. He bonded out again in July 2012. Zimmerman was acquitted of second-degree murder last month.

The state attorney's office issued the following statement Wednesday:

"The State Attorney's Office worked with Mrs. Zimmerman and her attorney to resolve this case so that justice could be served, and Mrs. Zimmerman could move forward with her life.  We accept her plea of guilt and believe justice was served today."
