Construction on expansion of Florida-Hospital-Kissimmee that will double its size got underway Thursday.

The new three-story patient tower will hold 80 patient beds and new programs like cardiology services and cardiac catheterization labs.

The Florida Department of Health said these services are needed, saying heart disease is the number one cause of death in Osceola County.

The new tower is expected to be ready in 2015.

Hospital employees expect room for 50 new healthcare jobs.
