It's back to the drawing board for Orange County Public Schools after the commissioner decided against building a relief school.

The district wants to build a new high school to relieve overcrowding at West Orange High School. However, residents living near the proposed site fought against the plan, concerned about the school bringing too much noise and traffic to the area in western Windermere.

The county commission's decision against the school site came after six hours of debate.

In the end, commissioners voted against it 6-1, with Commissioner Ted Edwards voting in favor of the school site.

The school district hoped to have the school built by 2017.
