A 73-year-old Polk County man is dead, days after crashing into a tractor-trailer in Sumter County.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers said Bernard Wagner, of Winter Haven, was traveling eastbound on East County Road 476 around 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7.

Wagner failed to stop at a stop sign at State Road 471 and drove into the path of a tractor-trailer, which was traveling southbound.

His Chrysler PT Cruiser collided with the semi’s right side. The car overturned and partially traveled underneath the semi.

Wagner was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center where he died on Sunday, Nov. 10.

The tractor-trailer’s driver was uninjured.
