A SunRail train traveled from a maintenance yard in Sanford to downtown Orlando Thursday morning for people to stop by the Church Street Station and get an up close look at the commuter rail.

A locomotive and two passenger cab cars parked at the station and will be on display until 2 p.m.

Visitors are only to see the train from the outside.

The first phase of the SunRail commuter rail system from Debary in Volusia County to Sand Lake Road in Orange County is scheduled to start operation in early 2014.

The second phase will extend the service in Volusia County to DeLand and South to Poinciana in Osceola County.
