In honor of National Latino HIV/AIDS Testing Day, the Lake County Health Department is offering free HIV testing.

The testing is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 15 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the health department’s Umatilla health center, which is located at 249 E. Collins St.

This year’s theme is “Save a Life. It may be your own. Get tested for HIV.”

In 2009, the HIV rate among Hispanic man was two times higher than Caucasian men, and five times higher for Hispanic women than Caucasian women.
