Friends and family of a 15-year-old boy who was killed in Altamonte Springs came together for a candlelight vigil Thursday night. They’re hoping law enforcement find the person responsible.

The murder happened at the corner of Central and Merritt Street in Altamonte Springs. Nearly two dozen people left candles, stuffed animals and balloons at that intersection.

“I won’t ever see my baby again, he’s gone,” said Jeanina Washington, said Tamar Harris’ mother.

Jeanina Washington can’t believe what happened to her 15-year-old son Tamar Harris.

On Friday afternoon, her son said he wanted to listen to music in the car outside of his grandmother’s place. However, Washington said he took the car without permission and drove it to a neighborhood in Altamonte Springs. As he was driving on Central Street, a person with a weapon fired several shots in his direction.

“I don’t know it’s hard because in my mind he is still here. I keep telling myself he is coming home,” said Washington.

The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office said the person responsible hasn’t been caught yet.

“Tamar was really loved, he was such a sweet kid. We miss him and we just want answers,” said Washington.
