A 77-year-old man was accidentally shot by his wife on Saturday, according to the Port Orange Police Department.
Police said Carolyn Spivey, 76, intended on harming herself at a home on Sweetwater Blvd. around 2 p.m. when her husband George Spivey intervened.
George Spivey suffered a single gunshot wound. He was transported to Halifax Hospital–Daytona Beach for treatment.
The shooting is under investigation.
