We had a bit of a rainy start to the weekend as a front dropped south toward Central Florida.

Showers with heavy rain and gusty wind were able to develop Saturday afternoon and continued into the early evening hours. Some locations received over an inch of rain. Some early sunshine did allow high temperatures to climb into the upper 80s to around 90 degrees.

As the front stalls over the area, high rain chances will stick around.

Mostly cloudy skies are in the forecast through the overnight hours with lows in the middle 70s. Behind the front, winds will shift to the northeast for our northern counties.

With winds off of the ocean, a few showers may push ashore early Sunday morning. Some heavier pockets of rain will be possible.

Sunday’s forecast will depend on where the frontal boundary stalls. If it is more to the south, some drier air will be able to move in and keep rain chances a little lower.

If it is more to the north, higher rain chances will be possible. For now, expect a good chance for showers in the morning and showers and storms for the afternoon.

Clouds will fill back in all over Central Florida for the afternoon with highs in the upper 80s to around 90 degrees.

This frontal boundary may help to spark some activity in the tropics early next week.

An area of low pressure may develop along this front and take on some tropical characteristics. While conditions are not conducive for tropical development, there is still a small chance over the next five days as it moves away from Central Florida.

The rest of the Atlantic remains quiet.
