Tampa-based TECO Energy has completed a $950 million purchase of a New Mexico gas company, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
The acquisition of Albuquerque-based New Mexico Gas Intermediate is the largest purchase by the company and boosts its customer base by more than 500,000.
TECO owns Tampa Electric, which provides power to 700,000 Bay area customers, and Peoples Gas, which serves 350,000 customers across Florida.
TECO bought New Mexico Gas from Continental Energy Systems LLC., a New York-based private holding company. The deal was completed Tuesday.
