Casey Anthony was acquitted three years ago of first degree murder in the death of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee.

The mother maintains she didn’t kill her child.

Anthony’s defense attorney, Cheney Mason spoke on CNN regarding how she’s doing now.

"Casey has photographs and she has her memories," said Mason. "She has not forgotten, gotten over, and never will forget or get over the loss of her child, no matter what the haters might think."

He says the public hasn’t met the real Casey.

"Getting to know her is to getting to understand her and realize she is a human being and does not deserve the criticism that she's received,” said Mason.
“She's had a trial and was acquitted and there's still people that won't accept that.

"She's a very likable and personable individual if you have a chance to know her. The world hasn't had a chance to know her. The world has learned what they think about her through cameras and the media."

Today Casey lives in an undisclosed location in Florida.

"She does some clerical work and some legal research and work and stuff like that. She exercises, she is alone and she tries to take of herself," said Mason.

The defense attorney says death threats and public hate keep Anthony indoors.

"This young woman enjoyed being out, and she's had to come to the reality of dealing with the fact that her daughter is dead and not coming back,” said Mason. “She's gotten through the shock of that and understanding it, and dealing more and more of the reality of what did and did not happen, and so she's going to be there for a long time.

"Casey, as a person, is complex."

Mason says Anthony no longer has a relationship with her family.
