A Lakeland man is accused of secretly taping a woman for at least five months using hidden cameras.

According to reports, deputies responded to the home of 35-year-old Armando Perez after a woman in the home discovered a hidden camera in her bedroom.

Deputies obtained an arrest warrant for the residence on 7482 Briarbay Loop on Thursday. Perez was located in Apopka later and placed under arrest by police for 15 counts video voyeurism.

He is currently in the Orange County Jail.

The woman said she was turning on a television when she discovered a live image of her own bedroom on the television. Deputies discovered two pinhole cameras set up in the woman’s bedroom – one was hidden in a smoke detector and one was hidden in a cable access plate.

"Yes, he’s the one that set up the elaborate voyeurism system to include pinhole cameras and yes he recorded this person against their will," said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd.

Perez owns the personal computer attached to the cameras, deputies said.

Detectives located 15 separate video files dating back to May of this year. The files contain videos of the woman dressing and undressing and privately exposing her body.

"We learned from this incident when someone from the house called us and said, ‘I was in the house trying to watch television, trying to change the feed to one of the television stations and a computer generated image of my room showed up on the TV."

"I’m surprised," said neighbor Chris Hassell. "Like really surprised by it."

"It’s very disturbing," said neighbor Sheryl Morris. "Very disturbing. There are places that you can go to watch women do that, where it’s perfectly legal, but I think in the home it’s totally inappropriate."

Deputies said they are investigating to see if there are any other victims involved.
